Resolving within-CMS heterogeneity in bulk expression data.

Methods

A 62-gene panel, evaluated in independent cohorts, with a two-dimensional CMS representation.

Findings

The panel reproduces the main characteristics of the four CMS classes and identifies three further subpopulations. CMS4 subdivisions align with intrinsic subtypes derived from single-cell data. The representation shows pathways, cell-type markers, and a continuum between CMS2 and CMS4.
